Katie Owen CMHC

Clinical Mental Health Counselor

Being a parent is one of the hardest, and most important, jobs in the world. When your child is struggling with big emotions, anxiety, or behavior challenges, it can feel overwhelming to know how to help.

Hi, I’m Katie Owen, a Clinical Mental Health Counselor at Power Within Child Therapists. I’m passionate about helping children and families strengthen their relationships, find healing, and experience growth through the therapy process.

Many families come to me feeling stuck, unsure how to manage outbursts, anxiety, or disconnection. What I want you to know is: there’s hope. Change is possible, and it begins with understanding your child’s story.

My approach is compassionate, person-centered, and strength-based. I draw from evidence-based modalities like play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Theraplay—tailoring each session to meet your child’s unique needs.

Play is how children communicate, process their world, and heal. Through play and attachment-focused interventions, we help them express what they can’t yet put into words.
Getting started is simple:

Step 1: Fill out the new appointment form on our website.
Step 2: We’ll have a 20-minute chat to understand your situation and see if we’re a good match.
Step 3: If it’s a good fit, we’ll schedule your first session and begin the counseling journey together.

You don’t have to navigate this alone. Together, we’ll help your child build confidence, resilience, and emotional balance, so your whole family can feel more connected and at peace.
